Brian May und Tony Iommi planen ein gemeinsames "Riff-Album"

QUEEN-Gitarrist Brian May gab in der aktuellen Kerrang!-Ausgabe bekannt, dass ein gemeinsames Album mit BLACK SABBATH-Gitarrist Tony Iommi plant. Laut May sollte die Kollaboration eigentlich noch im Dunkeln bleiben, Iommi stellte May aber öffentlich folgende Frage, welche die Pläne auffliegen ließ: "Wann arbeiten wir endlich zusammen an unserem "Riff-Album"?"

May erklärte, dass er bei einem Besuch in Iommis Studio sehr erstaunt über die schiere Menge von ungenutztem BLACK SABBATH-Material war. Daraus entstand die Idee, ein gemeinsames Riff-Album aufzunehmen: "Wir wollen all diese ungenutzen Gitarrenriffs an die Öffentlichkeit bringen. Es wäre doch toll, wenn sich die Leute daraus eigene Songs basteln könnten - mit Tony Iommi an der Gitarre."

...wie schon richtig geschrieben wurde: "erstmal" raus.....wie man weiß, kannn sich das bei SLAYER immer wieder schnell ändern.....naja, und ehrlich gesagt; ihren Zenit haben die (auch MIT Lombardo) doch eh schon längst überschritten......

Statement From Dave Lombardo Regarding Slayer Australian Tour 2013

I want to personally apologize to all of our fans in Australia who have bought tickets for the tour expecting to see me in my usual place on the drums.

So that you all know the truth, as of the end of the business day on February 14th, I was notified that I would not be drumming for the tour in Australia. I’m saddened, and to be honest I am shocked by the situation.

Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us. In my opinion, this is not the way a band’s business should operate. I tried rectifying it by letting my band mates know, and Tom and I hired auditors to figure out what happened, but I was denied access to detailed information and the necessary back up documents.

I spent the Christmas and New Year holidays realizing I had toured all over the world in 2012, but yet, had not been paid (except a small advance) or provided a proper accounting for a full year's sweat and blood. On top of this, I was told that I would not be paid until I signed a long form contract which gave me no written assurance of how much or on what basis management would deduct commissions, nor did it provide me access to the financial budgets or records for review. It also forbade me to do interviews or make statements having to do with the band, in effect a gagging order.

Last Monday, I sat down with Kerry and Tom to rehearse for Australia and to propose a new business model that I felt was the best way forward for Slayer to confidently protect itself so we could do what we do best . . . play for the fans. Kerry made it clear he wasn’t interested in making changes and said if I wanted to argue the point, he would find another drummer. On Thursday, I arrived at rehearsals at 1 pm as scheduled, but Kerry did not show. Rather, at 6:24 pm I received an email from the lawyers saying I was being replaced for the Australian dates.

I remain hopeful that we can resolve our issues. But once again, I sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Australia who spent their money expecting to see the 3 of us original Slayer members.

Timo Tolkki, (Ex-Stratovarius-Gitarrist) hat ein neues Projekt, "Timo Tolkki's Avalon", und will bald, wohl am 17. Mai 2013, ein Album rausbringen. Da sollen einige gute Gastmusiker bei sein.

Von DIO soll es am 28.5. eine neue Live-DVD geben: Finding The Sacred Heart – Live In Philly 1986

"Finding The Sacred Heart – Live In Philly 1986" wurde im "The Spectrum" in Philadelphia am 17. Juni 1986 während der damaligen "Sacred Heart"-Tour mit dem neuen Gitarristen Craig Goldy aufgenommen.
Die Show war bereits zuvor als VHS-Video und dann auch auf DVD erschienen, wird allerdings nunmehr zum ersten Male als komplettes Konzert in der Original-Running Order veröffentlicht, von den Original-16mm-Filmen remastert.

Heute festgestellt, dass scheinbar ein neues Children Of Bodom Album mit dem Namen "Halo of Blood" am 6. Juni rauskommt.

CHILDREN OF BODOM have set Halo of Blood as the title of their eagerly anticipated eighth studio album, set for a June 06 European release, and a June 11 North American release via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, CHILDREN OF BODOM unveils Halo of Blood's cover art, created by artist Sami Saramäki, known for his work on the classic COB records Follow the Reaper, Are You Dead Yet? and Hate Crew Deathroll.

The band's bass player Henkka Blacksmith comments, "We wanted to have a winter scene. Somehow it fits well with the atmosphere of the music and the composing session. It could be Lake Bodom actually, frozen, with people trapped under the ice. Very Finnish looking scene.

We were really happy how Sami created the whole imagery!"

CHILDREN OF BODOM recorded Halo of Blood in Finland's Danger Johnny Studios (located at a top secret, undisclosed location in Helsinki) with recording engineer Mikko Karmila, who worked with the band on their earlier albums Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll and producer Peter Tägtgren (Marduk, Amon Amarth) who oversaw production of both vocals and keyboards on the record. The album will be mixed at Finnvox Studios.

CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho comments, "Halo Of Blood is the eighth studio album from Children of Bodom. Musically, we've kept it fresh and new while still maintaining the elements that make COB's sound so recognizable. This new album has both the fastest and the slowest songs we've ever made and lyrically, there are themes we've never touched on before. Prepare yourselves for ten tracks of pure Nordic metal!"
