"Today, Shadow Kingdom Records announces the signing of Cruel Force. The first fruit of this union shall be the band's highly anticipated third album, which will see release next year. Additionally, reissues of the band's cult two albums, 2010's The Rise of Satanic Might and 2011's Under the Sign of the Moon, will follow on Shadow Kingdom on all formats.

Truest of the true, Germany's Cruel Force burst onto the scene in 2008 with the Into the Crypts... demo. While many have tried to emulate the ancient German (black)thrash sound, Cruel Force brimmed with an authenticity that could not be denied, as well as songwriting that added to that noble tradition rather than lazily picking at its corpse. Their two successive albums, 2010's The Rise of Satanic Might and 2011's Under the Sign of the Moon, made Cruel Force a certifiably CULT name in the international metal underground. Sadly, the band fell into a hiatus following that second album, but now are reinvigorated with the comeback 7" EP Across the Styx and are ready to make up for lost time with their imminent new album for Shadow Kingdom.

A statement from the band is as follows: "Today, we would like to announce that we have signed a deal with Shadow Kingdom Records for the release of our third album and for the re-release of our first two records. Signing with an American label was the right choice for us since we know that a big part of our fanbase is situated on the other side of the Atlantic, and we know that it was always a problem for you to get a hold of our releases, now even more than ever with the increase of postage costs. This way, we hope that access will get easier and more affordable for you folks."
Concluding, the band says, "As for Europe and Germany in particular, everything will also be readily available through Shadow Kingdom's extensive distribution network and through our own BigCartel shop. We feel that this is the best decision for the band and the fans, and we are looking forward to spread the metallic mayhem through Shadow Kingdom Records in the future!

mit jedem Hören entdecke ich neu Details.

Der Sound (ich liebe diese Drums) ist drückend und voll (räumlich würde auch passen) aber nicht erdrückend ballernd. Wundervoll.

Dann diese Wechsel beim Song Across the Styx
Oder das Gitarrenthema im abschließenden Realm of Sands das in akustischer Version die Platte ausklingen lässt.
Night of Thunder finde ich schon fast catchy vom Refrain
ich ertappe mich oft dabei, dass mir die Riffs und Leads durch den Kopf gehen wenn ich die Platte nicht höre.
Da muss ein neues Cruel Force Shirt aller schnellstens her.

Ich habe nach den hiesigen Jubelhymnen mir das Album auch angehört. Ich finde es ganz gut gelungen, mehr aber ehrlich gesagt auch nicht. Das instrumentale ''Azrael's Dawn'' baut schön Atmosphäre auf und ''At the Dawn of the Axe'' ist ein energischer Opener. Ähnliches kann man über das kreative und instrumentale ''Watchtower of Abra'' sagen. Die etwas längeren Stücke wie das herausragende ''Realm of Sands'' haben schön verspielte, melodische und epische Momente. Allerdings befindet sich zwischendurch auch viel Mittelmass auf dem Alben. Einige Lieder bleiben auch nach mehrmaligem Hören nicht hängen. Für Thrash Metal fehlt es manchmal ein wenig an Druck, für Black Metal deutlich an Aggressivität, sodass manche Lieder ein wenig in seichten Fahrwassern daher dümpeln. Die organische Produktion passt gut und das Cover sieht sehr cool aus. Insgesamt würde ich so 7 von 10 Punkte vergeben. Das Album würde ich mir nicht kaufen, aber live würde ich mir die Band durchaus mal ansehen wollen. Das scheinen auch die Stärken der Band zu liegen.

das klingt in meinen Ohren wie die Aussage meiner Eltern, vor 40 Jahren, als ich meine Musik gehört habe

"mach den Scheiß leiser!!"

das war ein absolutes Qualitätsmerkmal und bedeutet eigentlich das die Musik super geil ist
