Auf jeden Fall braucht man das Debut, auch wenn das eher fuer gewisse Stunden ist und vielleicht nicht wenn man gerade Rush hoeren will, aber an sich ist das schon' sehr cooles Album!

Gott, ne Liste bei dieser Band.... Gaaaaanz schwer.... Grace waere aber auch bei mir ganz vorne mit dabei

Clockwork Angels ist niemals besser als A Farewell to Kings, einer der größten Klassiker von Rush.

Bei diesen Plätze hab ich auch rumgerungen. Hab ich halt für "Clockwork" entschieden da ich diese öfter höre als die "Farewell".

Counterparts finde ich auch sehr schwach, vielleicht das schwächste Rush Album überhaupt. Versteht wirklich nicht, warum die Platte von manchen Fans so hochgelobt wird. Klingt für mich wie uninspirierter Alternative Rock und ohne Geddy's Stimme würde ich wohl kaum merken, dass das Rush ist...

Die Scheibe macht mir persönlich unheimlich Spaß ist eben weil sie für Rush Verhältnisse ziemlich rockiger ist. Und Songs wie "Animate", "Nobody's Hero", "Between Sun & Moon" oder "Double Agent" machen einfach so viel Spaß das selbst ein schwacher Song wie "Everyday Glory" das Album nicht runterziehen kann.

Ich seh das genau umgekehrt. S&A klingt vor allem stilistisch frischer, CA dagegen eher als wollte man die alten Tage wieder aufwärmen, ohne aber an die Klassiker heranreichen zu können.

Mag sein das ich die "Snakes & Arrows" vielleicht noch ein paar Mal hören muss. Aber nach dem gestrigen hören war es für mich eher anstrengend das Album zu Ende zu hören. Es kam mir so vor als das die Songs nicht wirklich zum Punkt kommen wollten. Lediglich "Far Cry" (der einzigste welcher ich überhaupt in Erinnerung hatte), "Working Them Angels", "The Main Monkey Buisness" & "Bravest Face" konnte mich einigermaßen überzeugen.

Dagegen war schon damals die "Clockwork Angels" ziemlich überzeugend. Songs wie "Caravan", "BU2B", "Clockwork Angels", "Seven Cities Of Gold", "Headlong Flight" oder "The Garden" gingen schon viel besser ins Ohr und überzeugen heute immer noch. Der einzigste Unterschied wo ich ausmachen konnte ist das die "Snakes" einen besseren Sound als die "Clockwork" Scheibe hat.

Rockig? Echt? Kann ich irgendwie nicht erkennen. Den einzigen Song, den ich als rockig bezeichnen könnte, ist Cut to the Chase. Sonst ist mir das Album viel zu gemäßigt und mainstream, ohne die für Rush oft ungewöhnlichen Strukturen, Tempowechsel etc. und sie zeigen bis auf das Instrumental gar nicht wirklich ihr Können. Ein wirklich unspektakuläres Album für Rush Verhältnisse. Da haben Rush doch davor und auch danach schon 10 x mehr gerockt... Alleine 2112 stampft dieses Album doch mächtig in den Boden.

Von Clockwork Angels mag ich lediglich Caravan, BU2B, Headlong Flight und den Titelsong. Die restlichen Songs geben mir kaum bis gar nichts...

Clockwork Angels ist für mich ein Meilenstein der Bandgeschichte und eines der besten Alben dieses Jahrzehnts. Ich kenne noch nicht alle Alben von Rush, aber von denen, die ich bisher kenne (Clockwork Angels, Vapor Trails (das schlechteste Album bisher), Test for Echo, Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves, A Farewell to Kings, 2112 & Rush), ist Clockwork Angels mein Lieblingsalbum von denen. Ich finde das Album musikalisch, wie auch stilistisch und textlich absolut herausragend. Ich werde mich aber fürs anstehende Konzert auch durch die anderen Alben mal durcharbeiten. Viele Lieder kenne ich auch schon von DVDs und Kompilationen.

Uff, stimmt, da war ja was.

Hab mir seit der lezten Rush-Offensive aber kein neues Album mehr zugelegt, so gesehen ist mein Repertoire noch arg dünn.

Ich würde aber bisher wohl tatsächlich die "Signals" als meinen persönlichen Favorit ausmachen.

Mir gefällt dort diese packende Atmosphäre, diese "schwebenden" Keyboardteppiche und die eventuell auch poppigere Ausrichtung.

Danach sähe es aktuell so aus:

Als nächstes würde ich die beiden Nachfolger von Signals empfehlen, Grace Under Pressure und Power Windows. Danach vielleicht die letzten drei Alben.

Moving Pictures als letztplaziertes Album sieht man aber auch nicht oft, woran liegt's?

All roads have led to this. Forty-one years in the making, the R40 Live tour took a very real journey back through time. Beginning with the grand design: a state-of-the-art stage set that pivots, rolls and dives, and brings Clockwork Angels in to bombastic, colorful life before marching stridently back in time (through theatre stages, a panoply of band and fan shots, the accrued memories of a life spent playing live) to a mocked-up school gym and the band playing there; a solitary bass amp set on the chair behind Geddy Lee, a mirror ball spiraling crazily above, casting thin rods of light like a light rain across the crowd, “Working Man” coming to a shuddering halt as the band’s beginning becomes their end.

Rush recorded and filmed R40 Live over two sold-out shows in the band’s hometown of Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on June 17 & 19, 2015 in the middle of their R40 Live 35-date North American tour.

R40 Live had the trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, performing a career-spanning live retrospective, celebrating their 40+ years together. The epic live shows by the Rock Hall of Famers were captured with 14 cameras to present the band feature-film style.

The center-point of this tour was the remarkable setlist, coupled with their idea of a “de-evolution” set design. When the band opened the show with cuts “Headlong Flight” and “The Anarchist” from their most recent studio recording, 2012’s Clockwork Angels, they did so with all the bells and whistles from that extensive tour. They worked backwards through their catalogue as the show progressed, the innovative set design making for constant visual eye-candy, as stagehands exchanged the gear and props on stage to resemble the era-correct tour staging in accordance with the songs being played.

The first set featured the infamous dryers on stage while they played “Roll The Bones,” “Subdivisions,” and for the first time ever live, “Losing It” featuring violinist Ben Mink, who appeared on the original studio recording from 1982’s Signals.

The second set opened with classics “Tom Sawyer,” followed by crowd favorite, “The Spirit of Radio,” but also included “Jacob’s Ladder,” which hasn’t been performed live since 1980 on their Permanent Waves tour. The last few songs of the R40 were set against the persimmon curtained theatre-looking stage, with the crowd raising their lighters and camera phones to “Closer to the Heart,” and then Alex and Geddy appeared with their signature doubleneck guitars as they played Xanadu, into the epic “2112” and encored with “Lakeside Park/Anthem” and “What You’re Doing/Working Man.”

The concert film also includes the the band’s renowned tour videos, highlighted by “Roll The Bones (R40 Live),” that features an array of special guests in the rap part of the song: Jay Baruchel (She’s Out Of My League), Les Claypool (Primus), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Trailer Park Boys, and Jason Segel & Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man). It is the first time the band put the song back in the setlist since the R30 tour, a full decade ago. During the R40 Live tour, “Roll The Bones” gained new life and became a fan-favorite with an arena sing-along to the chorus “Why are we here? Because we’re here – Roll The Bones.”

Singer/Bassist Geddy Lee explained how the large group of cameo appearances came about: “We had this older video of an animated skeleton doing the “rap” part of “Roll The Bones,” and felt it was time to update the concept for this tour. So after a lot of joking around with our show design team, we thought it would fun if we called upon some of our well-known pals and see if they wanted to have some fun with the lyrics. There were so many good and funny moments that it was hard to choose, some really hilarious and outrageous stuff! I’m so glad it worked out as it brought a big smile to the faces in the audience (and to us) every single night!”

R40 Live audio was produced by Rush & David Botrill, and mixed by David Botrill (Tool, Muse); the film was directed by Dale Heslip, and produced by Allan Weinrib. The live photograph on the cover of R40 was shot by baseball Hall of Famer Randy Johnson, who captured the band in a rare moment when both Geddy Lee and Alex LIfeson were on Neil Peart’s drum kit riser. “As a friend and fan of Rush, and the passion I have for photography to capture moments, it’s great that both can blend together in a lasting impression, here for the world to see,” commented the self-described ‘6”10 ninja in the photo pit,” who was on a portion of the tour in his new role as photographer.

Schlimmes Cover, was haben die Jungs sich dabei nur gedacht?
Aber es kommt ja auf den Inhalt an und der Sound scheint sehr gut zu sein, ganz im Gegensatz zum letzten Live Release.

Hey Folks...

Habe die CD/Blu Ray Box heute bekommen....

Der Sound ist nicht immer synchron und ich kann den Sound nicht einstellen(Stereo geht garnicht!!)
Habt Ihr dasselbe Problem?

Zur Box, top Aufmachung, das Bild ist ok aber für BR nicht so scharf wie ich es sonst gewohnt bin !
Der Sound ist leider bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt eine Katastrophe !

Den Sound finde ich stark, besser als alle anderen neueren Live-Alben von Rush, außer R30. Schön differenziert und dynamisch, wie es sein soll. Eine Katastrophe war da wohl eher Clockwork Angels Live...
Die genannten Probleme hab ich nicht, aber gucke bzw. höre auch am PC, vielleicht liegt es daran.

Bluray natürlich. Wer kauft denn heute noch DVD...?!
Hast du mal geguckt welcher Regioncode auf der Bluray angegeben ist bzw. ob überhaupt einer angegeben ist?
Laut Amazon haben die Blurays Regioncode A/1 und würden somit nicht oder nicht einwandfrei auf europäischen BD-Playern laufen, das könnte also deine Probleme erklären.

The December 2015 issue of Drumhead Magazine includes an interview with Neil Peart where the Rush drummer "reflects on 50 years of hitting things with sticks."

In a couple of passages, Peart also touches upon the fact that he now considers himself retired:

"Lately Olivia has been introducing me to new friends at school as "My dad--He's a retired drummer." True to say--funny to hear.

"And it does not pain me to realize that, like all athletes, there comes a time to... take yourself out of the game. I would rather set it aside then face the predicament described in our song "losing it" ("Sadder still to watch it die, than never to have known it")"

Damit ist es endgültig klar. Rush wird es nicht mehr geben. Zumindest nicht mit Neil Peart, aber einen neuen Drummer werden sie sich auch nicht suchen. Dann kann man nur noch auf ein Solo Lee/Lifeson Projekt hoffen, bei dem sie vielleicht Rush Songs spielen.

Schade war aber leider vorhersehbar. Bin mal gespannt ob sie, wie du vermutest, als Lee/Lifeson weitermachen oder das komplette Ende der "Band" ist.
Kann mir auch nicht vostellen das die sich noch einen neuen Drummer holen und dann unter Rush weitermachen.

Jetzt meint Geddy aber in einem Interview, dass die Aussagen von Neil falsch interpretiert werden und er denkt, dass er damit nur den "Ruhestand" vom Touren meint, nicht vom Drumming bzw. Musikerdasein allgemein. Scheinbar wissen die Jungs selbst nicht genau, wie es nun mit der Band aussieht...

Hier ist mal ein ganz neues und detailliertes Interview mit Geddy Lee, der gerade seine Autobiografie veröffentlicht hat. Ich könnte dem Mann stundenlang zu hören. Der Reporter macht seine Sache auch behutsam und gut.
